So, are corporations ever going to get big enough that they will start sponsering or maybe even purchasing countries? Take Microsoft for example. They could afford the country of Liberia on the western coast of Africa (GNP about 2.8B).
They could set up shop, pass out Microsoft t-shirts, keep a firm reign on cruise ship registration, and start running their own country. They'd provide jobs, computers and of course the'd have to have their own country run businesses like a Liberian auto manufacturer! Being a Microsoft subsidiary they come out with vehicles like "Car" 2005, and "Truck" 2006 with only one version of each, copyrighted of course. No other company could refer to their vehicles as Cars or Trucks, we'd get into our Chevy Hauling Vehicle or our Ford quad-wheeled person mover. Microsoft would seem to be stupid to not go after other industries in their pursuit of copyrights. In a peaceful Microsoft run Liberia we could look out our Window at our brand new Truck 2008, sitting in our Driveway 2005, sip a cold Beverage 2008 and enjoy a preview of Sky 2010!
